Blog Reflection Week 14

Lesson 1: Today's lesson focused on getting feedback from our peers. We went round watching each others music videos then filled out a sheet. In order to give useful feedback we had to consider numerous elements like, Did they use a range of shot types? Did the shots cut to the beat accurately? Did they subvert or conform to the genres conventions? Now taking this all into consideration we suggested improvements as well as highlighting the strengths of the product. This activity was very useful as not only did we get great feedback but we also gained inspiration from our peers when viewing their work. For example, one pair used a red colour filter in their music video which further connoted the theme of romance that the song carried. My partner and I liked this idea, so we decided to use a light pink filter in our music video which emphasised the themes of love and devotion, as well as brightening the shots. Additionally, my partner and I did some more editing from 1:00 - 2:00.

Lesson 2: I edited independently from 9:00 - 10:30, then my partner joined me and we continued to edit until 12:00, as well as lunch time (1:00 - 2:00).

Lesson 3: My partner and I continued to edit after school until 7:30. We added final touches such as transitions, fades on the audio as well as making sure the pink filter over the footage was consistently the same throughout the whole video because the original footage were of different degrees of lighting, so we had to make sure all the shots matched. Furthermore, we added graphics of the artists name and the name of the song because when we did research we noticed how it is a conventional element music videos posses, plus it adds a professional touch to the product. Other then that we just watched our music video many times picking out mistakes and just making sure we were happy with our final product.

Lesson 4: Today was the deadline to give in our final music video! So we used this lesson uploading our product onto YouTube. Click on the following link to check our final music video out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u65Zk84P-MQ . While our work was uploading my partner and I also began to get a head start on our ancillary products. We mostly spent time getting to terms with the software fireworks and experimenting with different tools, effects etc.
