Song Lyrics
Intro
Tripping, t-t-t tripping, he got me tripping
Tripping, I'm tripping tripping,
He's tripping, he got me tripping
Verse 1
Please take the time to hear me,
Look into my eyes and tell me what you see yeah,
Look past the tears and look inside my heart,
And tell me can you see that your tearing me apart yeah,
I want to try, try to make it work oh,
Tryna tell you things but I can't find the words,
While ya staring at me, feeling sorry for me,
I don't want your sympathy, I just want you to love me
Chours (x2)
Cause I can't breathe,
This pain in my chest is making me weak,
Stressing all the time and I can't sleep,
Crying all the time and it's killing me,
What ya doing to me
Verse 2
Why, Why do I do this to myself,
Going through your things and finding evidence,
Knowing that your ass is ganna lie about it,
Then you say you won't do it again but I doubt it,
I must be out of my mind to take this,
And deep inside my heart you ain't shit,
Trying to be a wife and raise a family,
You call me crazy but I can't see you with out me
Chours (x2)
Cause I can't breathe,
This pain in my chest is making me weak,
Stressing all the time and I can't sleep,
Crying all the time and it's killing me,
What ya doing to me
Bridge
Up in this love thing,
I guess that I'm ganna have to leave but can't leave,
I want to but I want you,
Don't know how I'm ganna get through this,
He got me stressed and so messed up
I'm tripping, he got me...
Tripping, t-t-t tripping, he got me tripping,
Tripping, t-t-t tripping, he got me tripping,
Tripping, t-t-t tripping, he got me tripping,
Tripping, I'm tripping tripping,
He's tripping, he got me tripping
Chorus (x2)
Cause I can't breathe,
This pain in my chest is making me weak,
Stressing all the time and I can't sleep,
Crying all the time and it's killing me,
What ya doing to me
Outro
What your doing to me do,
Oh,
Yeah,
Oh,
I'm losing breathe,
Oh, losing breathe,
No,
Yay.
This song is based on a relationship, where the woman is in love with a man who is cheating on her. She expresses her emotions by highlighting how hurt she is by his lies and even though she knows he has done so much wrong, she cant seem to let him go.
Analysing the tempo
The introduction is fast and simple. The main beat kicks in when the artist starts singing the verses and then when it gets to the bridge is slightly slows down. Then the beat starts again at the chorus and when the outro comes up, it starts slowing down and fading out. The fast paced tempo gives the video potential to have a dramatic scene, so lots of fast paced editing. The slower paced beat provides a chance to reinforce how emotional and meaningful the song is, so lots of slow camera movements and an interesting narrative that the audience could personally relate to (U&G).
Analysing the music
The genre of this song is Soul/RnB and uses instruments like piano, drums and background vocals to establish his. The chorus especially holds most of the emotion as she sings about how weak she is and this indicates how much her relationship has broken down (‘Crying all the time and its killing me’). While the verses are like her lists of reasons to leave, this connotes how she is sick of being treated badly (‘Knowing that your ass is ganna lie about it’).
How would I use this in my music video?
I’m thinking of using the narrative style. The story will be about a relationship and how it’s going bad. So I might have artist having a flashback of how her relationship used to be, then her lying on her bed crying.
I want to get creative with locations but nothing glamorous, just places like the local café where they first met or even a bedroom.
Another idea I had was maybe having the man strapped to a chair or cornered out and then the artist is singing to him – as if she’s giving him this big farewell speech.
Overall, I want to keep things simple but then be creative with the camera. I want to also make sure my artist possess this confident aura, where she acts like a diva by moving around and expressing her emotions through her body language e.g. clutching her face or throwing her hands up in the air with anger.
