Magazine Advert
The typography is almost as if the artist has signed it herself. Me and my partner thought it added a personal touch to the album, this appeals to the audience because Ciara's signed name just legitimises the album and so the audience may feel special since they might think of it as autographed just for them. Additionally, the typography itself is very close together connoting she is a woman that can hold her own, while the slanted typography style connotes how she is a elegant and classy woman. Also, the typography is written in black, it may be to highlight how it was handwritten by black ink. The colour black connotes that artist has an edge to her personality and that her music may be sad, for example her music could highlight the negative sides of being in love. Overall, my partner and I really liked the typography and it has influenced our magazine advert as well, since our artist, like Ciara is a sophisticated woman. Therefore this is perfect to use on our product since the connotations of the typography are what we are aiming to portray about our artist to our target audience.
Ciara is situation on a bed laying down. This location is effective in portraying the themes of love/romance/sex all of which the artists song 'Body Party' is about because the bedroom is typically known to symbolise these themes. The crisp white bed sheets connote purity, quite ironic since she is laying on a bed nude. On the other hand, it could mean that even though her song highlights adult themes, she is still trying to keep things clean and pure for the audience. Overall, this influenced our work because we are using the same location, the bedroom, because we want to create a link between the music video and magazine advert so that the audience are familiar with our artists products.

The main image is of Ciara laying on the bed holding white bed sheet over her body. The shot was taken as a birds eye view, which really exposes the artist and adds glamour to the image. The artist is not wearing anything which sexually objectifies her in eyes of the audience, however because she has covered up appropriately it connotes she is a woman with dignity. Her posture is teasing, as she poses seductively, eyes close and shoulder pushed up against her cheek. Her body language oozes sex appeal for her target audience especially the male audience as the image is visually pleasing to them, while the women may aspire to be like her as the artist is confidently posing, indicating she is comfortable in her own skin thus empowering women to do the same. Overall, my partner and absolutely loved this image of the artist. Our artist will be re creating Ciara's pose but with adjustments. So our artist will be covered up more by the bed sheets and will be holding a rose (a symbolic element that runs across all three of our products) because it symbolises love and romance the main themes our chosen song 'Amazing' is about.
The makeup is very bold. The use of the smokey eye shadow really stands out because her eyes are closed which connotes that the artist is daring. This is further connoted by her black nails. The hair lays perfectly around her head, big and curly which connotes she is wild and lively just like her upbeat music. Overall we like her makeup and hair. We were not inspired by the makeup as it was too dark for our artist, we want to keep things natural. So just red lipstick and red nails will do. We really like the hair and it has influenced how we want our artists hair to be like, crazy but sophisticated.
Digipak
The CD has a pastel pink coloured flower on it. This flower connotes how the artist as well as her music is girly, fun and pretty. The colour hints that love may be a theme involved within the artists music as red and pink are symbolically known to be colours of love. Overall, we liked the idea of using a flower on the CD, then we realised that the rose is used as a prop in our music video, so then we decided that we would make the rose the main link between all of the artists products because our artists music is all about the ups and downs of love.
These three images are of Mariah Carey in the same costume but doing different poses. The costume connotes her innocence and pure side, this is further connoted by her playful poses. Her body language is free, cheerful but also quite sexual as she is just wearing a white t-shirt with no bra underneath! This again appeals to the audience, in particular men because she is being sexually objectified, since she has her arms up as if to surrender herself to the audience but in a teasing way. This also appeals to the female audience as they see the artist is confident in her own skin and is not scared to show off her body, this is empowering for the females as they will be motivated and inspired to also have the same attitude. Details such as the wind blowing in the hair adds to the sexy element of the image but also connotes a heavenly atmosphere because the use of white makes her look like an angel. Overall, me and my partner found many elements in this image inspiring but the body language and the long shots are what influenced our digipak the most. We decided to do something similar to this as we have used many close ups and we wanted a long shot which allowed the audience to really see what the artist is like because the poses show different parts of our artists personality. For example, there is one image of her arms behind her back, the pose is reserved connoting how there are sad moments in her music. This is contrasted by the other image where the artist has her hands up high, this image is sexy and confident signifying that the artist also has good moments in her music.
This close up is of a woman looking to her side, eyes partially close, mouth slightly ajar and hand softly by the cheek. Her facial expression is very seductive and with the close up draws the audience in as you become infused by the bold red colour. We really liked this image and were looking to create something like this for our front cover, so when we found this it was perfect! We loved two things especially. Firstly, the fact that she looks away is appealing to the audience because they want eye contact and so it grabs their attention as they want to know more about the artist an her product. Secondly, the red and nails connote love/romance/risky, everything we want out artist to be like.
The back image was not inspired by anything but we chose to use it because the album is called 'From The Heart' and nothing connotes raw emotion like a piano does, so it was a perfect touch to add to our product as it emphasises our artistic/talented side. This image is along side the track list connoting how she wrote every song by herself and this appeals to the audience as they can see she is a gifted and real artist.
The image of our artist nude on a chair but covered up appropriately was not inspired by anything. We got the idea from our own work because in our music video our artist is in a bath tub nude, so we thought we would carry on this image into our digipak. We chose to use this image it's really stripped back and the audience get to see the artist for what she real is. The fact that she has no clothes on connotes how she has nothing to hide and that this album has stripped her of every love experience, this is evident through her songs since they revolve around the ups and downs of being in love. The jewelry connotes how she is classy and that fact that the accessories are gold connote how she has worked her way up in the music world. This could be seen as inspiring for our audience as our artist grew up in the ghetto and is now living the American dream. This pushes the audience to still keep their dreams alive because hard work pays off just like it did for our artist Kim King.
